transportation from LCC terminal KLIA?

i will be arriving at LCC terminal KLIA around midnight. i understand that the airport is far from the city, is it safe to take a taxi from there to bukit bintang? or are there other means of transport that i can take?

i'm not very comfortable with malaysian taxis, sometimes they try to rip people off by refusing to use the meter...

If you were to arrive during the day, you have a variety of options to get to the town centre, like bus, train and taxis. But, since you said that you would be arriving around midnight, then your option is zeroed into only one - taxi. For your info, it takes about half an hour from the plane's touchdown till your baggage claim.



Well, you can take heart that airport taxis are different from the city taxis who rip tourists off. They operate on a coupon system and the rates are fixed. You just have to tell them your destination, pay the listed rates, and you will be given a coupon. Hand this to the taxi driver and you will be taken to your destination.



Make sure that you buy it from a ticketting counter. Good luck.

The best way from the LCC into the city is to take the bus that is run by Air Asia. It costs RM9 and takes a little over an hour.

It drops you at KL Sentral railway station from where you can take the monorail or a taxi to Bukit Bintang. You can get details about the service on www.airasia.com.

If you do want to get a taxi from the airport they operate on a coupon system so you don't need to worry about them not using the meter. It is pretty expensive because it is more than 70km.
