I would say understanding the same words in a new light might help enliven the prayer and make it a more active resource in the day to day and moment to moment events we call life: "GOD, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change (what other people think), Courage to change the things I can (my own thinking & feelings and as a result my actions), and the wisdom (practical aplication of this knowledge) to know (be aware in the moment) the difference (and when there is no difference). Living ONE DAY AT A TIME (there is always only NOW); Enjoying one moment at a time (again, not letting past regrets and hurts rule your thinking and emotions); Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace (and as the True Inner Teacher to guide me)"
